"BIG 5" Wildlife Hluhluwe/ Umfolozi in a Day

This extraordinary "value for money tour" starts chasing the early morning sunrise we leave Durban and cross over the Tugela River into Zululand. The Tugela River rises in the Drakensberg near the Mont-aux-Sources and falls vertically for 1800 feet as it enters the sea North of Durban and was the Northern boundary to KwaZuluNatal until the Zulu war.

Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserver is our next stop where we will start our Wildlife Game viewing for the day. As we only have a day all senses need to be focused to find all the Game and even the elusive cats. The park boasts many varieties of animals including what we call the “BIG SEVEN”. These are Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, White and Black Rhino, Cheetah and Wild-Dog.

An endless sighting of general game such as Antelope, Giraffe, Zebra, Monkeys and an array of birds ensure that no matter what you see an enjoyable day will be had.

The summer months are very warm and we suggest cool clothing while traveling in the vehicle. Lunch is provided and caters for all dietary requirements.

National parks in South Africa prohibit people from walking around the reserves because of the danger of animals. Return to Durban arriving around 18h30 subject to driving conditions.
